The order about air pollution from ships announced
The order from the Faroese Ministry of Health and the Interior about air pollution from ships was announced on 11 December 2017. The order is an adaptation of international law, but the distinctive rules for the Faroe Islands are described in § 6:

§ 6. The content of Sulphur used on board ships and on offshore installations moored at Faroese harbours or anchoring closer than two nautical miles from land must not exceed 0, 10 weight %
Subsection 2. Ships must immediately after mooring or dropping anchor and immediately before departure use fuel oil that complies with the provisions in section 1.
Subsection 3. The provisions in section 1 do not apply to ships on a regular route who are moored for less than two hours.
The order comes into force the day after the announcement, but subsection 2 comes into force on 1 July 2018.
