Listervik is Ship of the Year 2025

30-04-2026

The Faroese Maritime Authority has selected the Ship of the Year in the Faroese International Ship Register (FAS) for 2025, and the winner is LISTERVIK, owned by the Swedish shipping company Rederi AB Uman.

Second and third place went to SVITZER HYMER and SJÓBORG, respectively.

Results:

  1. Listervik
  2. Svitzer Hymer
  3. Sjóborg

Listervik is the vessel in FAS that has achieved the best results in Port State Control inspections in 2025.

Few deficiencies during inspections and a low number of detentions are crucial for maintaining the Faroese flag on the Paris MoU White List. Retaining a place on this list is essential for FAS and the competitiveness of the Faroese maritime sector. Therefore, we are pleased that both crews and shipping companies place strong emphasis on safe and well-organized vessel operations.

The Faroese Maritime Authority’s “Ship of the Year” initiative aims to encourage good procedures and responsible conduct on board, while also recognizing crews and shipping companies that perform exceptionally well.

The winner is honored with a certificate of recognition and public acknowledgment.

This is the 12th time the Faroese Maritime Authority has selected the Ship of the Year. Previous winners include:

  • Sjóborg (2024)
  • Svitzer Hymer (2023, 2022)
  • Hav Nes (2021)
  • Vinga Safir (2019)
  • Fure Ferder (2018)
  • Fure Nord (2017, 2016)
  • Northern Ocean (2015)
  • Norrøna (2014)
  • Nordjarl (2013)

More about the assessment criteria

The Ship of the Year is selected based on results from Port State Control inspections over the past three years. Inspections without deficiencies are rewarded as follows:

  • Expanded inspection – 3 points
  • More detailed inspection – 2 points
  • Initial inspection – 1 point

Ships over 500 GT that have not been inspected in the Paris MoU region, but operate within it, previously received 3 points annually. From last year onward, these ships instead receive 1 point, corresponding to an initial inspection.

If multiple ships achieve the same number of points, additional weight is given to whether the vessel has clean class certificates and no remarks from other inspection authorities. Conversely, incidents resulting in personal injury or material damage will count negatively.

The Faroese Maritime Authority warmly congratulates the crew and the shipping company on this recognition!
