As a general rule, all foreign seafarers must have a Discharge Book issued in their home country. In circumstances where that is not possible, a dispensation can be made so that the foreign seafarer can get a Faroese Discharge Book that is only valid for service on board vessels registered in the Faroe Islands.
The Application for a Faroese Discharge Book for foreigners must be accompanied by a written explanation as to why the seafarer cannot get a Discharge Book from the home country and a confirmation of employment on a faroese registered vessel from the owners or ship management company.
When sending the application, please submit the following documents:
- a resent passport photo
- a copy of the passport
- a receipt of payment
The cost of the discharge book is DKK 200. An additional postal fee of DKK 21,-is charged if the book is to be sent by mail. If the book is sent abroad, the postal fee is DKK 31,-
