INTERNATIONAL REGISTER
The Faroese International Ship Register FAS was established in 1992. Only merchant vessels of 100 GT and above can be registered. in FAS.
The age limit for registration is 20 year, but the law allowes exceptions if a number of specifik requirements are met.
Vessels registered in the Faroese International Ship Register must be owned by a Faroese company or person, and each ship must have an appointed Faroese representative. However, all share captial in the Faroese company may be owned by non-residents.
Vessels registered in the Faroese International Ship Register fly the Faroese flag and are subject to Faroese jurisdiction.
Bareboat
Foreign vessels are permitted to be bareboat registered in the Faroese International Ship Register.
