In second place is M/V FUREVIK, for the second consecutive year.
In a shared 3rd place, we find: M/V SVITZER GAIA, M/V BOB, M/V BOSS og M/V FREJA.
Each year, the FMA rewards a ship under Faroese flag with the honor “Ship of the Year”, acknowledging that the demands from authorities, cargo owners and authorities and the fierce surveillance by port state controls on merchant ships are tremendously high. It is of great importance to the FMA that ships in FAS are operated safely and responsibly. The performance has a vital effect on the Faroese flag and its position on the Paris MoU White list of flag performance.
Once again, Furetank Rederi is at the top of the list. This testifies to a well-operated shipping company that we are delighted to have in FAS.
The best performing ship is identified on the following criteria:
The PSC performance over the last 3-year period where the ship’s number of zero-inspections are rewarded as follows:
- Expanded
– 3 points -
- MDI – 2 points -
-Initial – 1 point
Ships that have not been inspected in Paris MoU areas are rewarded with 3 points annually.
In the event that two ships have the same score in the above, the absence of remarks and items in class records or other records may play a deciding role.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the FMA gives out this award. Winners the previous years have been Fure Nord in 2017 and 2016, Northern Ocean in 2015, Norrøna in 2014 and Nordjarl í 2013.
Appreciation and congratulations from the FMA to the crew, ship owners and operators!
