Considering the situation in Ukraine, the Paris MoU Maritime Advisory Board has asked that flag states and PSC officers apply flexibility in circumstances relating to repatriation of seafarers. This applies to both Ukrainian seafarers and other seafarers. The Paris MoU has issued a guidance for this purpose.
The Faroese Maritime Authority fully supports this notion and will take the necessary measures to help the situation. The FMA will allow expired SEAs and authorize SEAs exceeding the maximum 11-month length. The FMA will also make exceptions for expired STCW documents and other documents of seafarers who experience difficulties with their repatriation.
