Concentrated Inspection Campaign – (CIC)
The Paris Mou has announced that they jointly with the Tokyo Mou are going to carry out new more strict inspections.
From September to November this year high importance will be given on MLC requirements with special regard to seafarers living and working conditions on board.
The CIC carried out by the Paris Mou in 2015 concerning “enclosed space entry” gave a more positive result than the inspection carried out in 2014 on hours of rest. However, the Paris Mou emphasizes that it is very important that both the flag state and the shipping industry still ensure that matters with regard to these circumstances are under control.
During the CIC carried out last year no Faroese vessel was detained. Unfortunately, two Faroese vessels had as early as in September, in connection with Port State Control, got deficiencies due to lack of drills with regard to enclosed space entry. The FMA was not satisfied with this development, thus an extra newsletter was published last year, beside that the FMA was in close communication with the owners concerned in order to rectify these matters.
As mentioned above the CIC will be carried out from September to November in 2016 with high importance on MLC requirements with special regard to seafarers living and working conditions on board. The FMA shall remind all Faroese owners of vessels registered in FAS to ensure that all matters with regard to these conditions are under control.
